    Spikes or CMMG complete upper???

    I'm trying to decide between:

Spikes Tactical 16" mid-length, complete upper 4150 chromoly, chrome lined chamber and bore, m4 feed ramps & barrel extension, 1:7 twist, MPI tested barrel and (supposedly) properly staked gas key

    -or-

CMMG 14.5" + pinned/welded flash hider = 16" mid-length, complete upper 4150, chrome lined, hBar, 1/7 twist, MPI tested barrel.

I checked the chart, but no info on spikes. I want decent quality, but can't afford the high-end right now (BCM would be my choice, but too pricey)
Will mostly be used for plinking, but would use for HD if it was dependable.
Upper will be going on a CMMG lower with Daniel Defense LPK

Any input would be great guys, thanks.

Either will suit you fine, but since you have a CMMG lower, why not go for the matching CMMG upper?

I have the Spikes on my CMMG lower and it is great.

My upper actually has a CMMG barrel, but I've heard that they are using Sabre now. Finish matches the CMMG lower as well if that's important to you.

CMMG, great CS, great product, and might as well having a mating upper and lower.

thanks for input, matching the lower isn't especially important to me, i'd rather focus on quality. i'm leaning towards the spikes, i've read that they're using sabre barrels and bcg's too

I have sent 3 e-mails to Spike's over the past 6 months, and NONE were answered. With CMMG I have carried on full e-mail conversations multiple times. I like my CMMG 14.5 rifle. Go with the accessability and service.

I didn't think CMMG offered the mid-length gas system on their 14.5" uppers. You might want to double check that if that matters to you vs. a carbine-lngth gas system.

I found the upper you mentioned on their website, but I've still never heard of anyone that had one. Could be a typo or could just be a rare upper.

I dont know about e-mail but when i called spikes they were very helpful.

I had a problem about a month ago with an order, spikes forgot to send some thing to the FFL. I called spikes and the girl who helped me was very good she called and e-mailed my FFL to make thing right.

Only had one email not answered from spikes. It had to do with a new upper I third-based for my friend. Upper got here on a Friday , he took it out that Saturday bolt wouldn't close without assisting every time. long story short , they shipped a new bolt carrier group , got here in a week. He said he put 40+ rounds through it yesterday no problem. +1 for spikes making it right (figured they would have next day aired , or 3 dayed the BCG , but it works so cant complain)
