    How to check trigger pull?

Hi guys, kind of new question (I searched..), how do you check how many lb is your trigger pull? Its a rem. 700 rifle

I know from the factory I guess they are around 7lb from what I read, but I want to actually check it and see what it is

    Thanks..

Buy or borrow a trigger pull scale.

I've done it with a coathanger and a bag of change( you know the nickle and dime kind. just bend the wire to hang on the trigger and start putting the coins in the bag till it trips the trigger. then weigh the bag. If you don't have a scale you can use bullets and just count them.

all my rem 700 came around 4-5 lbs stock. one with old style trigger and 2 with the new X Mark Pro. The XMP came with 4lb...
my advice is to go in with a buddy or two and buy one to share.... that way you can halve or third the initial costs..

Now that is a really clever idea!

I bought a used RCBS trigger scale from Ebay for $5 (brand new $35)

I did this for a while, too. You'll want to repeat the measurements 5 times in a row (I use 10) and take the average, both to get good data, and to see if your technique is consistent.

I ended up buying a Lyman digital gauge, and it's a great tool (though some guns have pulls outside its 12 lb range, like the Mosquito in double action). It's a good bit more precise and easier to get an average with.

For both, there's a lot of variability if you're not consistent in how you hang it and the angle of the gauge relative to the trigger.
