first time using lead sled-need help

i recently purchased a thompson center venture in 7mm rem mag.up to this point ive shoot .270 so im not new to this caliber.thing is ive had 3 rotator cuff surgerys and i purchased a lead sled to aid in sighting it in.
im looking for the best way to use the sled.should i set the rifle in place and use only my trigger finger/thumb to fire?or would shouldering it while in the sled be better?its for deer hunting so im not looking for 1/4-1/2" groups,just a good solid 1-1.5 group.

i have used one of those a few times, and i always shouldered the whole sled. i think it would feel really weird, otherwise, and hard to get a proper cheek weld... just load up on the shot bags, and you should be just fine!

I just got my lead sled s well for new 300 WBY Mag and 458 Lott -- I tried it out with a 223 Evolution last week and it was awkward because my friend has a very low picnic table for a bench. It would be less "scrunched" on the concrete benches at Angeles...



You just get in behind it and fold your off hand back under the butt stock
