24" Varmint Uppers with Blued Barrels?

Does anybody make an 24" varmint type upper assembly with a blued barrel?

I was looking at the Stag and RRA but most vendors show a SS barrel. Will I need to step up the price scale to get a blued barrel (seems counter intuitive)?

Am I going to be looking at assembling my own upper (would be a first)?

    Thanks all.

      Cool thanks.

Yep, $785. Time to sell some blood I guess. I found the Stag for $585, so I'm wondering if I could replace the barrel on the stack for $200? Or is the Bushmaster just better all around...

That's a heavy barrel, not a bull barrel.

your right. im sorry. BM, i believe refers to this as their "varmint" upper. FWIW.. i shot this upper many many years ago. and from what i remember it was really nice. either way, to the OP hope you find what your looking for.

Most AR barrels aren't blued. You are probably looking at a stainless steel barrel that has some other sort of coating on it and thats why it costs more than just regular stainless steel.

I think Oaktree Gun Club has the 24" Bushmaster on the shelf. Fluted, free floated blued or parked or whatever finish they call it.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

The only chromoly (easy to blacken via parkerize or black oxide) bull barrels I know of are Model 1.

Good info guys. Thanks. I hadn't even thought about having a SS barrel parkerized...

                      Good.
                      Don't even think about it.
                      It won't work.
                      There's no iron to convert.

You CAN blacken stainless with black oxide though.
I recommend glass bead blasting before black oxide as a very nice matte black finish option for stainless steel.
