    saiga 7.62x39 or lancaster ak

I've been wanting an ak lately and dont know which one to get. I know the saiga is cheaper but I plan on doing the conversion later. So is it better just to buy the lancaster now and dont worry about converting it? Or is the saiga way better? I shot my friends saiga 223 and liked it alot. What do you guys think

I have a Saiga 7.62 thats currently undergoing an AK103 conversion. I just picked up a Lancaster AK-74. A saiga + conversion will end up costing you a bit more than a lancaster if you don't do the work yourself, if thats an issue.

yeap, that's what i've heard too, doing a conversion costs about the same or a lil more than purchasing a lancaster...so i'd rather have both, and just leave 'em the way they are.

one of my bid has a saiga and loves it. however, i would definitely get a lancaster- it's much more visually appealing to me...

I dont mind doing the work myself, makes me learn. I read somewhere that lancaster comes from rebuild kits, is this true?

don't saiga rifles have detach mags? if so, that would be a good swaying factor for me, not to mention that i've read saigas are very accurate for AKs

If you can do all the conversion yourself, get the Saiga.

I've heard that Lancaster AKs are made of imported parts from all over Europe, and might not be all Russian like Saiga.

Lancaster has good rep in quality, but nothing is better than your own quality standard.

I like my saiga just the way it is. Don't be fooled by the price, the value is definately there. You can do a partial conversion (pistol grip, bullet button, ak mags) and still be cheaper than a Lancaster. If you are partial to the Lancaster, you should give the Arsenal Ak's a look.

I think there quality control needs some adjustment. As for there fit and finish it was nice for the two days I had my Polish underfolder. You can see my problem with Lancaster at the link below.

The only reason I would pick a Lancaster over a Saiga is the wood. I'll gladly buy the Landcaster wood to install on my Saiga conversion.

Wow couldn't believe lancaster did that. You just made the decision for me with that post. First a saiga then an arsenal
