    Preliminary wolf ammo report.

    Wolf .223Rem 55GR. HP

Shot 80 rounds through my middy AR, no issues at all. Cleaned it up and I was surprised how clean it ran. Previously I had used Privi Partisan and Remington UMC same round count and spent a lot longer cleaning (Or maybe I've just got better at cleaning)

I unlike others enjoyed the smell too

I think the older Wolf really smelled (ammonia or ? as IIRC). The stuff they've put out in the last year or two I really haven't noticed any unusual smell/bad smell.

Wolf works fine in my AR as well, even the old lacqured stuff. I've shot half a case of the lacqured over a period of a couple of months & never cleaned the rifle & had zero problems. I've always attributed it to having a 5.56mm chamber rather than a .223 but I don't really know for sure.

If you have a decent AR, then there shouldn't be any problems at all with whatever you feed it. Did you expect the wolf not to work?

        Did I? No.

No issues is a good thing though. A cost effective way to shoot my AR is all gravy baby. Thought others would enjoy coming across this post and others like it if the "is wolf good?" question arises for them.

Wouldn't have an AR any other way. Chambered for 5.56 is the way to roll.

Good to see somebody else enjoying Wolf ammo through all of the FUD. A lot of people are terrified of the stuff.

Something worth noting, after 600+ rounds, I have come across 5 now that are so out of spec the bolt won't even close. When you set it next to a proper round, you can see that the neck is visibly longer on the defective round.

Other than those few junk rounds, I haven't had one single problem, exceptn the fact that I'm all out of ammo now. Any calguns vendors have good prices on bulk Wolf?

I ran 1200 rounds of Wolf in the first day and a half of a recent rifle class and only had two FTEs

I have ran other courses putting 1200-2000 rounds downrange over the course of a weekend with similar results

For the money saved it is worth it to me... That said my LMT SBR will not run Wolf reliably, I could get the gas port worked over so I could run it but honestly I will probably just buy more PMC for future classes and plinking

i agree completely ive been shooting the 62gr HP and FMJ out of both my rock river 20" upper and my spikes tactical 16" M4 upper with no issues.....my buddy on the other hand was having all kinds of issues. mostly extractor problems(torn rims) he has a stag arms AR. not the most accurate stuff but for plinking it works and its cheap just got to find a round that your rifle likes

My warranty card that came with my CMMG M4 rifle says shooting that junk will VOID my warranty. Kinda strange for a supposed battle rifle.

Same here, I've shot about 500 rounds of Wolf in 62 and 55 gr on my 16" middy BCM with no problem except one misfired round. I actually just got home from the Cow Palace gun show and bought another 500 rounds Wolf 62 gr FMJ. Looks like the price went down a bit compared to the last gun show.

Yeah, same reason I won't shoot it either, though I'm not opposed to steel-cased ammo. I shoot plenty of Russian Brown Bear through my handguns.

The best part about using brass rifle ammo is that one can reload it, though--a substantial cost savings if one continues to recycle one's brass over three or four reloadings. Can't do that with Wolf...

Cal, its $115.19 plus tax, OTD $126.68. I think the last time I bought it, it was $135+ OTD.
