My rifle is a california legal semiauto AR and i wanted to if its legal to use the sturdier, better cycling full auto carriers. probably a noob question, but i wanted to find out. thanks

Yes,there isn't real difference in the application you are going to use it for,it is legal in a semi auto rifle and will serve you well.

I figured id ask calgunners who i overall trust instead of google. if your going to be a smart guy, at least answer try and help answer my question

Yes, covered many times, to my knowledge the only real tangible difference between the full auto carrier and the semi auto carrier were the weight for the cycling rate when firing burst or auto. The FA carrier was weighted to slow the rate down a bit if i'm not mistaken. You probably won't really notice a difference shooting a semi or FA carrier in felt recoil and I have never heard of any solid proof that they are more reliable in any scenarios but the one's we're not allowed anyway in CA. Regardless, FA carrier is A-O.K. in Cali so long as you don't drop in a FA group in the lower and be an idiot like some have asked in the past.

Why run the heavier F/A BC?? It slows the weapon's cycling, enough for me
to discern anyway.
