    For lefties

I am considering building up a lefty AR for my lefty lady (after I get her situated with a pistol). She is right eye dominant for being left handed. I know the "right" thing to do is just get her used to right side shooting but I think a left handed rifle would also be a really neat custom piece.
My question is; are there any folks here who have a lefty AR, are you right eye dominant and where did you get your upper?
So I guess that is three questions but I'll be happy with two out of three of any of the above.

I'm not left handed with a right eye dominance but Stag makes left handed uppers.

I dont think she'll need a left handed rifle. I'm left handed and left eye dominant, but when I shoot right handed I have no problems. just get her an aimpoint and tell her to shoot both eyes open, it works for me.

Just skip the left handed upper. I have one, it's not much to talk about. You're probably better off getting into the shorter waiting line for right handed uppers and not paying the "left handed upper tax" at this point in time. She's not going to notice the difference at all when shooting a right handed upper especially since most all current manufactures of AR uppers have a brass deflector built in to keep hot brass from flying into your face. If I purchase any more uppers in the future, they'll all be right handed uppers.

I am right handed but spend plenty of time firing with my left... I will agree that there is really no reason for a left hand upper, just slap an ambi safety on any AR and she should be good to go

I have the same problem your lady does. Left handed with right eye dominance. I learned to shoot with the left eye. At the time when i got started in shooting there were very few options and what there was out there as options were pretty exorbitant in price. it looks weird when i work my bolt action when hunting but I just learned to go left eye aim.

Left handed, left eye dominant and shoot both right handed and left handed ARs. I shoot both of them left handed most of the time but practice from both sides just in case.

If your lady is right eye dominant have her shoot a right handed upper, she'll shoot better that way.

I'm right handed but left eye dominate so I shoot left handed. No problems with my right handed AR upper. Personaly, I'd never buy a left handed upper even though I shoot left handed. Parts would be harder to find if the S ever HTF.

My wife is wrong handed/right eye dominant... She shoots handguns lefty but rifles righty (ingrained in her from BCT)

Since I started taking her to the range she can now from either side while keeping both eyes open (how her DS's should have taught her in the first place)

You'll have to teach her to shoot with her left eye.

I shoot left handed with left eye dominant, and I tried to get a sight picture with my right eye, doesn't work.

You can't get your head in position to see the sights.

I am left-left......The old M16's without the brass deflectors were a problem sometimes. Mostly when brass went down the shirt collar. ....We fashioned a piece of sheet metal and metal screwed it behind the ejector port.....Worked fine. But My AR15 AW's with the built in deflector have not been a problem at all. My wife and I shoot off the same bench at the same time at the range.

jus learn to shoot a regular rifle. lefty ar needs a lefty bolt, as far as i know only 2 major companies make em dpms and stag. you'd be screwed if you needed a replacement bolt.
