UBR QUESTION

I need some help...well a friend does anyways...

I have 2 friend who recently purchased a Magpul UBR in FDE and is second guessing the fact that it may be AIRSOFT!

I am an owner of 2 UBR's and never had this problem...

What happened is the cheek piece of the stock that slides over the buffer tube and has the notch to replace the end plate doesn't fit quite right.

We thought the lower may be out of spec but it happens to both of their UBR's.

One friend had to take a dremel to the notch in order to make it fit.....

AIRSOFT??????

Anyone else have this problem?

My 2 black UBRs and another friends FDE UBR go on and fit perfectly....

Anyone have any idea about the possibility of them being AIRSOFT?????

I know I'm being repetitive but I might be trading a Black UBR for his FDE...

I don't have a ubr stock but I would say first is to look for the actual Magpul small prints on the stock somewhere. If it's airsoft it should have something that says for airsoft only.

try the problematic ubr's on ur rifle. If it doesn't fit then it's very likely to be airsoft.

Put it up for sale listed as for airsoft. The go grab the real deal.

where did you buy it? thats ridiculous if they are trying to pass it off as for a real rifle

It's a very real possibility and a problem that Magpul has been fighting for quite some time.

Airsoft or Real

I have a few questions first.
Did they come in orange and black magpul boxes?
Airsoft or PTS versions of the UBR have a compartment in the buffer tube for a small battery.

Now the UBR ACM which is a blatant copy of the UBR is a little scary. It comes in a plastic bag and has 2 mounting options. 1) is an adapter for a airsoft lower the other is a buffer tube that will NOT mount on to a real lower. Also the UBR ACM version has white # underneath, 2 cheek pieces one small and one large. The small cheek pieces has "coolrado" instead of colorado. Also the door springs are make of lower quality metal that can rust.

I've been running into people trying to pass off stocks and mbus that are cheap ACM copies of magpul items. If you are in doubt purchase them locally and always ask if they come in a magpul box w/sales invoice.

if you bought form online store does the discription say "airsoft only" and let magpul know to, who knows maybe you could try and talk tot hem and see about sending yours in for a discount on a real one?.?.?.? always worth a try.

definitely contact magpul. I read on ar15.com justin is willing to give you a real one if you can prove you paid the full retail price. they might have changed that policy but its best you let them know either way.

I would like to hear from OP where his buddies got this fake UBR.
