Figured it might be interesting to document my current build as it progresses.

It starts out with a complete RRA lower I bought a few months ago just for this build (before I even knew where else it would go from there haha)

So far the modifications to it are fairly limited. Just a Magpul MIAD and trigger guard.



Here is the upper as it sits now. It is a LMT 10.5" upper with the sole modification being a Surefire MB556 muzzle break. The next change to it will be a Daniel Defense Mk18 rail.

Nice upper! Are you planning to remove the buttstock so you can convert it into a pistol or is the RRA lower for another build? Can you post pics of the upper on the lower or would that be a big NO NO

It is going to be a SBR... Evidens, as much as I would like to slap them together I won't be able to for about 90 days haha

The upper is actually living with a friend who does not own an AR for now

I have played around with a couple of KAC equipped guns, the Mk18 rail will run it out 9.5" and still give me enough space to pick up a can if I decide to later

So what can you goin with? Surefire?

Personally, after seeing Surefire and AACs little interweb slap boxing sissy fight. I don't want anything from either. I do think both have some nice stuff though.

I am still not 100% sure I even want one... In all honesty it would be more of a novelty than anything else

You're doing basically what I'm working on for an AR pistol. LMT + RIS II. Will probably run a KX3 to keep the blast away.

Why DD and not KAC? And take that sucker down to 10.3in.

Have you handled the RIS II? It's very nice.

Yeah the Mk18 rail seems to be the all around best choice to me... Continuous rail up top so I can run my optic a bit further and it is lighter than most similar rails
