    Unless you know what you're doing, don't use a non-standard part.

    Odds that it will come loose and end up gumming stuff up are infinitely higher than the potential issues of running the rifle without it.

    The buffer retaining pin & spring aren't needed.

        So what the heck happens to the carrier running no buffer retaining pin. The thing comes flying forward if you open it, but what about rifle functionality. I can't see it working but maybe its because I just spent 12 hours stuck at work.

          When you close the rifle the back of the carrier is already pushing against the front of the buffer, whether the retainer is there or not.

          The buffer never touches the retainer until you open the rifle.

                Went and picked up a spring down at JKSupplyCo and picked up a FDE MIAD while I was there ill post pics! Thanks again ryan!
