I didn't like mine - my bolt broke.

They're OK - typical to lower-end commercial uppers.

You can do better for the money.

        BCM, LMT, Saber are tops.

CMMG would be the next step.

        Go mid-length if you can.

I see all of the above in-stock all over. All of them are better than Stag.

I have a DPMS half-assed Mk12 mod O upper, (1-8, 18" medcon profile barrel) and it's tack driver w/ the Hornady 75 grain BTHP steel case training ammo.

Granted, I only have 800 M/L rounds through it so far, but it's very accurate and I haven't had a problem so far.

BCM are "improved Sabre." I'd put them at the top of those.

I love my DPMS upper. It was a great fit with my Stag lower and it is extremely accurate. I shoot clover groups with it at 100 yards. I was having short stroking issues while it was being broken in, but that all stopped after about 100 rounds. I have killed well over 300 prairie dogs with it. I would buy another without hesitation.

I've owned a few. Never had problems. Their varminters are very accurate. All parts are machined to mil-spec tolerances--just like every other AR maker out there. They might not offer all the bell and whistles others do but they are good. Excellent customer service too. Sure, they have had some of their rifles perform poorly or break--what mfg hasn't? Any product is expected to produce some defects on the lot. Some people are a little more willing to bash some companies. I will admit that some other companines better check the quality of their work before leavin the factory but DPMS WILL fix your problem should you find one. I've had a CMMG upper break on me after 30 rounds and other CMMG upper that arrived with a broken bolt and a pinched gas tube. I've had a bushy extractor break out of the box. I've even had an trigger guard ear snap off of a stag lower and a BCM gas key come loose when a hex screw broke. All of these companies gladly fixed the issue. Even in light of these issues, I still say buy without hesitation. If you want something with more features then expect to pay for them. DPMS makes very good target ARs. I no longer own any of their stuff since I've upgraded equipment to better suit my needs. However, these guys make a great starting point.

mine had a few probs with fte and ftl at first... found out the front sight/gas block was just slightly out of position. after repositioned it has run flawlessly. now a 16" bull barrel so not terribly accurate but can keep about 1.5" at 100yrds
