Just got my POF upper

I just got my upper today and I found something a little interesting. I found what looks to be some sort of white flaky stuff the sling swivel area. I don't know if it's some sort of corrosion that's building up or something else. Has anyone else seen something like this before on other AR's or another POF? Should I be worried?

That's a sling swivel. I don't know what it is without seeing it closer - could be dried lube, corrosion, jizz from a squirrel......

I wouldn't worry about it - just clean it off and apply some CLP, then reinstall.

you're good man...you said it was your first upper. I still have a **** eatin grin on my face....that was a good one man.

Just clean it with some CLP. The sling stud (thats what that is) should screw right out.

It's actually a fungus that EATS METAL. You need to get rid of it as soon as possible! I'll take the upper of your hands for say, $100...

I will try to get my friends slr and see if that will help. I'm a worry type person sometimes especially if its something i buy.

I will but that's how i am with stuff that i buy. Especially paying that much for one i rather not have any cosmetic defects. I'm anal in that way. Once I get a better pic i will be letting you know. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

I emailed pof and chris said that it was residue from being anodized and it wasn't properly cleaned off. I ran it under water and it came right off. Phew!
