Quick FAL question, I have an STG 58 that's all wooded out - I grabbed one of the nice DSA European wood stocks and forends they had a few years ago for about 5 minutes. Now I want to switch out the cocking knob, don't know how but I have an idea. Do I drift out the roll pin, knock out the little alloy tab and slide out the knob & lever, replace and refit?

It should be a 2mm solid pin, just a bit longer than 5/16". A 5/64" roll pin (auto parts store) will also work.
You can make a perfect 2mm solid pin...try a coat hanger or nail

I'm about to give up. I have the cocking unit removed, spring out and the only thing left is the plastic knob and the aluminium slide. I can't get the damn plastic knob of the post. I've tried unscrewing, I've tried tapping it out from the other side - nothing. Is there something about the DSA that's different from others? It almost seems like this thing is press fit on, one way only.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment
