Ashford Armament Community Range Day | Free Lunch, No Range Fees, Vortex RDS Giveaway

Hey folks! My name is Trenton, and I'm the President at Ashford Armament. We make a compliance device that allows you to have a fully featured AR with standard capacity (legally acquired) and detachable magazines. We just launched late last year, and are trying to get our product in the hands of as many folks as possible. We also want to do our part and contribute to the shooting communities in the areas we do business in.

To that end, we're hosting a community range day on February 17th from 9:00AM to Noon. We've reserved the majority of the Lytle Creek Firing Line, a beautiful and well-kept outdoor range an hour east of Los Angeles. Depending on weather conditions, you can shoot out to 200 yards (300 if it rains close to the event date). I'd love for you to join us, meet with one another, bring some cool guns, try out our product on one of our demo rifles, and have some fun!

Here's what you need to know:
    • Safety is our #1 priority. As such, there will be two Range Safety Officers patrolling the firing line.
    • At the end of our time at the range, we'll give away a Vortex Spitfire AR 1x Red Dot Sight (Prism Scope). Everyone who shows up will be entered to win!
    • We're providing free lunch via Nexx Burger. They have a food truck that will park right next to the range around 11AM and get us fed before we all hit the road.
    • This goes without saying, but this event is completely free!
    • The firing line can accommodate ~40 people at once - so bring some fold up chairs to hang out in when you aren't shooting. Depending on how many people attend, there may be a short wait to get to the firing line.

Because we're providing lunch, and need to pre-pay the food vendor ahead of time, we're asking that you RSVP via this link. You're still welcome to join us if you don't register, but lunch will only be provided for those that register. Again - everything is free, we just need to get a good idea of how much food to ask the vendor to bring to the range.

I won't be there as I live hundreds of miles to the north but I really applaud your ingenuity in developing the compliance device and putting on the free range day.

What an awesome thing to do. Good on you, OP. Wish you much success!!

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. The 100 yard line is a lot of fun. 200 yards can be challenging, but who don?t like a challenge right.

Open range day with free lunch sounds fun. I am also few hundred miles away but tempted nonetheless.

Previously unfamiliar with your product, I went to your website. I hope this is not too off topic but I noticed the disclaimer: This product cannot be shipped to: MA, NY, WA, IL. Why is that? Do those states have laws forbidding compliance devices?

Amen to that! I definitely need good optics to see that far. My eyes aren't what they used to be.

Wish you were closer! The more the merrier. Fair question. The legality of the BRS hinges upon each state's case law surrounding the definition of "semiautomatic". In the states where the BRS is a good compliance option (like California), case law defines semiautomatic as full completion of the firing cycle with each single pull of the trigger. Because the BRS requires more than just a single pull of the trigger - the rifle isn't semiautomatic and thus is not an assault weapon.

In states like NY, semiautomatic is defined as using the energy from a fired cartridge to chamber the next round. Because the BRS interrupts the firing cycle and requires user intervention, but still uses the energy from a fired cartridge via the buffer spring, a rifle in NY with the BRS installed is technically still semiautomatic - so it doesn't make a rifle compliant.

In short, the differentiation of case law and definitions is what drives where the BRS can be sold, and where it can't.

I just watched the video. It looks like a great idea. If I were closer I'd definitely come to the range day. I wish you great success with the range day and the BRS.

We've just begun to test that out. For now, we aren't recommending use in AR10 until our testing is concluded.
