At least it doesnt have a bullet button.

I think the way that the blued walnut stock contrasts with the black barrel is very good looking too.
Why not? I asked this question a week or two ago in the legal area. I knew it was legal but was interested in harassment issues. As long as it does not have a fixed magazine or evil features and you legally own the grandfathered in magazines you should be good to go.

As long as your mags are "grandfathered" you can use any in your mini-14 as long as the mini is otherwise stock. If you put a bull pup stock or pistol grip stock or a flash hider or other evil feature it then becomes an assault rifle.

I put Hogue stocks on a couple of the Mini's I had. Nice feel to them, quiet and not slippery when wet.

I may sell an older Mini but definitely not a newer one. An AR maybe a better platform, but in CA, it may damn you if you actually use one, so I would say no because you cannot use an AR with a bullet button for defensive purposes let alone all the possible complications and liabilities that may arise from using one. With a Mini there is nothing to worry about.

There is always something to worry about with about anything once you throw legally into the mix. If you do anything to modify that mini and have to use it, I wouldn't be so sure you wouldn't have a civil suit brought against you. trigger job? Oh, you modified it. Maybe it wouldn't have gone off so easily if the trigger hadn't been worked with. You miss and it over penetrates something and hits a bystander? I doubt it would really matter then. There are possible liabilities with anything you do. Neither weapon would be my 1st choice to begin with unless its all I had.
