Range trip with my Ruger PC9

I worked as RSO (Range Safety Officer) at the local range last Sunday, so I went early and I took my new CZ83 .380 with me to the range to check function and POI, and decided to grab my Ruger PC-9, too. I haven't shot it in quite awhile, and forgot how much fun it is, and how accurate it is too!

I have the Glock mag adapter, and was using my Glock 19 and 17+2 LEO mags. All shooting done with iron sights, With 115 Blazer brass, it was dead nuts on at 75 yards, and decimated every clay pigeon and major part there of from a casual rest. Loaded one mag of the very hot Federal 9BPLE 115 +P+ ammo (1700 fps from the carbine), and it was dead nuts on at 100 yards, slaying the clay pigeons every time.

I then stood up, and off hand was bouncing pop cans at 50 and 75 yards with most every shot. DANG, there is a reason I use this as my Home Defense carbine. Blew through over 100 rounds before I knew it. The other RSO working with me (who has a Mini-14 that he loves) had never seen the PC-9 before. I let him shoot a couple mags. He was so impressed, he is going to buy one.

Great little piece of kit, it is!

I just took mine to the range recently to zero in the green dot I put on it. Very accurate, very fun gun. Glad I bought it. Not hard to go through 100 rounds for sure.

Maybe your FFL screwed up, I have the same gun and my DROS lists the model as "PC CARBINE"

That seems to be an issue for me as well. Thank goodness the family recognizes this, and encourages therapy through broad diversification into other manufacturers offerings.

I would definitely buy a Ruger PCC, except I already have a PC9. It was our Departments answer to the LA bank shootout. So I bought my own.

Does the takedown PCC experience any noticeable negative effects on accuracy compared to the PC9?

I have no experience with PC9. As for my PCC, my red dot is mounted in place of the factory rear iron sight, so the zero stays true. Just a little front heavy

I like my PCC 9mm so much that it is the homestead defense weapon. I've found that Magpul 27 round magazines work great in it and at a lower cost than factory Glock magazines. It feeds gold dot hollow points perfectly.

Would you care to expand on that a bit? I am very familiar with the incident, and would like to know how/why your agency ended up choosing that particular weapon.
