    6.8 vs 223 extractor interchangeable?

Hey guys, the tooth on the extractor of my nearly new Ar in 6.8spc broke off. And my gunsmith doesn't have any 6.8 experience or parts, but he did have a 223 extractor and it fit (although looked a little small) and it seems to work. We cycled it a few times successfully so I took it out and ran through a few magazines ith no probs.

Is there a 6.8spc extractor, and if so should I replace the 223 extractor immediately?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    What make of bolt?

I believe Stag uses the same extractor for both according to their website.

I've heard they are interchangeable. 68forum.com is a good place to check.

The actual PRI 6.8 extractor is different, but some manufacturers, Stag and AR Performance for two, use the 5.56 extractor because it is more commonly available.
I don't now if there is a significant performance difference between them.

I don't know, a fellow calgunner built the rifle a few months ago, I have an email in to him.

Thanks, that's very helpful. There are some PRI parts on this rifle so it may be...

Just heard from the guy that put the rifle together, it is a Noveske barrel/bolt combo... I'll be contacting them today for a replacement.
