    springfield M1A Loaded synthetic stock

Just bought a beautiful M1A loaded with the Black Synthetic stock. I love how the rifle feels but i?d rather have a wood stock on the gun to complete the look!

I?ve heard that the loaded models are fitted to the stocks or something so my question is this: will i affect my Accuracy by removing the synthetic stock and putting on a M14 stock or M1A stock?

I swapped my synthetic stock with a take off wood stock in great condition. Didn't affect the precision at all and it was not bedded/fit. Plug and play, but I am not expecting excellent result, just pretty darn good results

A wood stock might have a better fit with increased draw pressure at the front ferrule over the somewhat squishy Springfield synthetic stock.

Only the national match and super match are bedded into the stock and they don’t use those cheap pieces of **** when they do it. Those plastic stocks Springfield makes are light and the recoil pad is excellent but other than that, they suck. Get a wood one.

            springfield M1A Loaded synthetic stock

I bought a scout squad that came with a black synthetic stock. I quickly bought a new wooden one from DuPage.

On top of looking beautiful, and feeling really great with the sling. I was getting nearly 1.5 at 100.

I like the synthetic stock because I could paint it camouflage and I gave it a rattle can desert paint job. I placed the rifle in the new stock and my performance was dismal. I?m talking 4+ MOA at 100. The timing of the gas lock was different and I thought I timed it right, tight at 6:00, but obviously not the case.

Wood looks great...on a safe queen. By all means, buy a pretty wooden stock and install it. Get some great pictures and take it to the range.

But, if you have to use the gun for "business" purposes, or training, then the synthetic stock performs better. I really liked mine. It consistently made head shots at 400 yards with iron sights (man shaped pop-ups, about 6"x8" head).

An M1A with the OEM SAI synthetic stock? Did you replace any parts?

I love the assumption that wood stock guns can only be safe queens lol. Men have used wood equipped guns for “Business purposes” for the better half of 500 years. It doesn't matter if i have the wood stock on it or not. This is a tool. Tools get dirty and banged up. I’m gonna hunt, camp, shoot and enjoy this thing. I have a Wood stock Mini 14 and that thing gets dings and scratches like all guns should get.

I love all my polymer framed pistols and tactical modern rifles but i love the old stuff too! : )

They say over time of taking the action out of the wood it?s not as tight each time and so it should be minimized. Do you find a practical effect on accuracy?

Agreed. A wood stock isn't going to diminish the function of a rifle like the M1A. Not one bit. This ain't a precision rifle; it's a battle implement designed to hold minute-of-man out to several hundreds of yards.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Another thing too is that we’re not hunting gators in the Everglades or at war in the South Pacific. I cant imagine a situation here in California that’ll make your Wood Stock swell up like m14 those poor GI’s in Vietnam had. Even then some swelled up…some didn't.
