a real can slows and cools the expanding gasses that exit behind the projectile. it is kind of like a muffler. some of the early ones had oiled steel wool for guts.

I'm not understanding how a supressor works, if even a thick solid aluminum fake supressor doesn't change the sound? does it reroute the air inside like a muffler does?

would a rubber supressor made at home be elligal lol ?
