    Is a Remington 740 Woodsmaster a C&R??

I have a remington 740 woodsmaster 30.06. I thought I read that these were built in the 50's... which is hard to imagine with the one I have, which looks great, but I was trying to find out if it is a c&r. I cant find a year stamped on it , but it does have a 46 stamped on the barrel and R.E.P and some other symbols.

    So do I have a c&r?

    Thanks

The 740 started production in 1955 and 30.06 was one of the earlier offerings, so it could be. Is your rifle factory drilled & tapped for a scope?

Remington uses a code on their barrels - I've found them most often left side just in front of the receiver. The other link should get you to the correct code/year.

It does have scopemount, but I'm not sure if it was factory. I just found on the remington site, they were made from 1954 to 1959. So I guess it is a c&r. I tried the date check website, but it didn't give me a year. I was just making sure it was 50+.
