A2 thread protector

There’s a company that makes a functioning brake that looks almost exactly like an A2 birdcage. Can’t remember the manufacturer though.Comment

It's not a flash-hider, it has no flash hiding capabilities. It's a thread protector mocked up to look like a flash-hider, hence a fake "flash-hider". Leave it to Calguns to make things way more complicated and confusing than they need to be.Originally posted by IshootforbloodThat is funny! It is flash hider that is not a flash hider. (Did Bruce Lee say that?) Midway has for less than $20.00. About the same price as a thread protector. It is no more embarrassing than a fin grip.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 08-10-2023, 5:18 PM.CRPA and NRA member.

Looks stupid to you, functions the same. I did not 'crap' on the thread, I asked a question. You're not the arbiter of legality here. Mind your own business.Probably because those thread protectors you posted look stupid, and an AR-15 doesn't look right without an A2 flash hider, a device you may not legally be able to have depending on your configuration.
It's probably best to just accept different people have different taste and not every thread needs to get crapped onCalifornia Native

One (in my mind) great big benefit to the stupid looking thread protectors (like the ones I use) are that they knock a solid 1.5 inches off the total length of the gun. I don't run a brake because I don't need one for the shooting I do and my buddies appreciate it when they are shooting with me. Likewise, I'm not convinced a linear compensator does anything to mitigate noise at or to the side of the shooter more than a bare muzzle does. So at that point, why not have the shorter rifle (assuming a 16 inch barrel)? Or conversely, if you don't mind the added length of a fake A2 thread protector, why not have a longer barrel (with better ballistic performance) with a short thread protector in a comparable length to having the fake A2.Last edited by NapalmCheese; 08-10-2023, 4:09 PM.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment
