OCD rust question - AR15 recoil spring

I?ve had some for about 10 years (including a A1 surplus parts kit spring) stored in a tool box in the garage. Not one sign of rust.

Welp.... guess mine will be even more rust free than yours.

FWIW I did google "Chrome silicon spring rust AR15" and got some hits so it's apparently not unheard of.

Might be a little tin-foil hat but I am thinking along the lines of "they finally outlaw sale of AR15s and related parts". I am stocking up on enough parts to keep my lower running indefinitely.

But, What will happen, is one day you get bored and realize you have enough spare parts to build x amount of guns. So you build them.

Before you know it, you?ve got a dozen AR?s and no more spare parts?

I don't read that as "dismissing" or "ignoring advice" myself. In my mind I am frankly more like "they are probably right but my OCD is gonna bug me incessantly about this anyways, so might as well keep going."

As far as I'm concerned, you have to live with the consequences of your decisions. So do what you think is appropriate. I tend to oil almost everything. CLP attracting enough dirt and dust to effect cycling? Don't know if I see that happening. That assembly isnt exactly "precision".

I have some buffer springs from the 70's that still look new. Never did a thing to them.
