    SAR8 Question on configuration

    Hi Gunners,

When all the AWB action came about I converted my SAR8 to a fixed 5 round with a CETME mag. I presumed it fell into the same category as an SKS, in that you could have evil features like the stock muzzle device and finless pistol grip. After I made it fixed I just put it up and never ran it again for decades. It's set up as a quays PSG1 clone, big glass & palm swell grip. Is it legit? PAX

It?s fine, it looks like a SAR48 is banned by name and would have had to be registered, but a SAR8 isn?t listed, so it would just need a fixed mag of 10 rounds or less.

Depends on how you "fixed" the mag in. If it is with a "bullet button" style mag lock that you can release with a tool, It is an AW and needed to be registered 5 years or so ago. If it requires the dissasemblly of the action (on an HK removing the the grip housing with trigger pack) then it is fixed.

Yes you have to remove the fire control group to remove the locking mechanism. That's why it's a hanger queen. Thanks guys, PAX
