The uppers i buy are all midlength, and 1/7 twist. Cant saw i choose the 1/7, i jist like it being standardized in my riflea. Ballistic Advantage has 30% site wide right now byw.

I got a midwest industries enhanced lightweight upper, had to add a bcg (from mwi) and then a charging handle. It is 222 wylde with 1:8 twist to run any ammo I like. It has run flawless and been very accurate. Lightweight as well, as I mostly use for offhand shooting and moving. Only wish I got a shorter than 15” handguard to reduce weight a little. It is 16” with 15” handguard.
Had to take the flash hider off and replaced with linear comp for a featureless build.

A bit more pricey, but has been solid with no issues.

A $225 White Oak barrel and a $39 upper reciever will outshoot most pre built uppers.

Basically everyone is just gonna tell you what they ever bought and or what is cheap and was "accurate" to them. You have to figure out what you want by doing a lot more research on your own.

The last uppers I bought that I really liked were LaRue UU's and I still want to order one more Match upper that they offer now, a Windham Superlight upper, and a RRA R3 upper. Barrels 1:8 except for the Windham which is 1:9.

I got a 16" Stealth heavy barrel, a 16" light PredatAR barrel, light 16" pencil Windham barrel, and a fluted 18" medium barrel on the RRA.

Or you can get the WOA upper complete for $685. You're not going to find a better value for a precision-oriented 16" upper than this.

The WOA 16” SPR Upper is a great upper when length and weight are critical. It is perfect for anything from coyote hunting to tactical use. This upper is designed around our 16" SPR barrel. It is a 1-7 twist barrel chambered in .223 Wylde (.223/5.56) tha

If you're looking for a lighter option, BCM's lightweight uppers would save a few ounces from the barrel to help the front end feel more maneuverable.

I know it’s not what the poor feller asked for but I did pick up a white oak complete SPR upper 20” about 18 months ago. Love it and it shoot amazingly well.

^^^ This right here. Not sure if they still have it but BCM was throwing in a **FREE BCG** with purchase of any complete upper recently. That's $200 right there in savings.

The Larue is probably the best deal for an exceptionally accurate 16" upper:
LaRue Complete AR-15 Match Grade Upper - 16" - Details, specs, manuals, images & videos, read the latest reviews or write your own

If not the Larue, you can't go wrong with a Colt for $550. Find a BCG and CH of your choice.
LE6920 Colt M4 flat top upper assembly, 16" chrome lined 1 in 7 twist Gov't profile barrel, 5.56X45 NATO *New In Box* Sold Individually.Colt manufactured flat top upper receiver with M4 profile barrel.Includes standard oval type handguards.Receiver marked with Key forge marking, M4 feed ramp.Chrome lined Barrel is marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7.Packed in factory box (pictured) NO rear sight, charging handle, bolt carrier assembly or carry handle.  Parts must be inspected and tested by a qualified and competent gunsmith or armorer before use in a firearm. Not all firearm parts are interchangeable; use of new parts without proper knowledge could cause a firearm to malfunction and cause property damage, injury or death.Colt Part #: SP401397

Then if you have the cash you can get a Daniel Defense:
The DDM4 V7 AR15 style Upper Receiver Group is built around a Cold Hammer Forged 16 inch barrel and equipped with a DD improved Flash Suppressor to reduce flash signature. It features a mid-length gas system for smooth, reliable cycling and reduced wear on moving parts. A free-floating MFR 15.0 handguard offers incredible weight savings as well as superior cooling, ergonomics, and modularity while maintaining the strength and durability expected from Daniel Defense. With the M-LOK attachment points that run along 7 positions and an uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny rail on top, the V7 upper receiver group has plenty of room for the sights, optics, and accessories the user may require. The independently ambi GRIP-N-RIP Charging Handle accommodates left- and right-handed shooters. All Daniel Defense complete upper receiver groups come standard with an M16 profile bolt carrier group.

                        Or a Geissele:

Anything chrome-lined from Colt, DD, Geissele, BCM, FN and Windham is what I would call "duty grade".

Guess I’m not asking this question right , ok let me try this, if I buy a ar lower from a gun store , build it to appropriate ca legal length and install the proper action breaking device like juggernaut tactical or ar mag lok etc…. which forgive me if I’m wrong , but from what I understand is the new acceptable “ magazine restraining device “ , is it anything more than a long gun in the eyes of the law? Let’s try that.

You can do that or build a featureless. Anything I have that's not a RAW is featureless... grip fin or similar with fixed stock, or SCR stock, no flash hider, no adjustable stock, mag release button installed, etc... yes, no 14.5" barrel unless your pinned/welded I believe, so 16"+ usually... and the payoff? NO ACTION BREAKING device or ten rounder (if you legally own something else)... you use a regular mag release button.

So you could do something like a Magpul fixed carbine stock, grip fin grip, thread protector, etc...

I understand a lot of people crap on them but my bear creek arsenal 450 bushmaster is a beast and very accurate. Paid less than $300 for it
