    STOLEN SAIGA

A couple weeks ago we had a burglary and many guns were stolen. My hard drive with all the serial numbers recorded is missing as well. I'm out of the country so the only thing I can do besides the police report is post photos I have on this computer of the stolen rifles.

2009 Saiga 7.62x39 bolt is numbered 590 if I recall and the picture shows, with OD Green furniture and original AK pistol grip that wasnt attached. The forend is tapco, the buttplate wasnt labeled.

Was taken along with many others in my gun safe from my family's home in Los Angeles/Orange County area and I believe they will be turning up in the Las Vegas area.

I am not very active on this forum, if anyone comes across anything or has information please send directly to my email: cyten@whoever.com

Complete shot in the dark, I know, but this is all I have. Please be on the lookout!

Sorry to see that. Beautiful gun.

It will turn up in some robbery, and makes some leftists call for more gun control.

            Were they in a safe?

Sorry to hear. This is a good reminder for everyone to keep a list of your serial numbers and a backup somewhere else if possible. I bet a lot of people here wouldn't even know what serial number to write down on the police report if their guns suddenly disappeared. Keep a printout at a relative's house in a safe place, or make an encrypted file which you upload to the cloud somewhere. I wish you luck in recovering your firearms. Thieves suck. It's a long shot but maybe you can try to retrace your purchases and see if the FFL's have your DROS handy to give you the serial numbers for the police report. Obviously this won't be possible for the really old rifles or inherited items. You can also file a request with the DOJ for all the registered firearms in your name, I don't know if that helps you at all but it's something. You really want the serial numbers on that police report if you ever have a hope of getting the firearms back some day. I have read stories here on calguns of members receiving back their stolen firearms years after the fact. So it's always possible, but only if the police can identify the firearm as yours through the serial.

How did they break into the safe if you don't mind me asking?

The problem with nearly ALL safes is very common. They are mainly built for fire protection ratings not theft protection. Give me 5 minutes with a right angle grinder and a speedy cut wheel and I will get into nearly any safe. And never through the door. That's because they are all nearly made from 12 to 14ga sheet metal with sheetrock between the inner and outer liner. Is what you really need is a safe made from fractional metal, with a poured fire liner with various hard objects in the mix. Then you have something fairly safe. Otherwise, you are just buying peace of mind in case of a fire. Theft, not so much. B.

I don't have a safe. Guns are locked up in something that does not appear to have guns in it in garage... and I keep the house / garage 100% bare of anything that announces I have guns in the first place.

If I leave anywhere for more than a day, guns get moved into the attic (which there is no obvious entrance to).

I super paranoid about something like this happening, I keep all my serial numbers iClouded on iphone notes, only 1 person knows where my hidden safe is. My gf thinks I’m crazy but I always have a close trusted friend watch my house when I go on trips

I'm no safe expert but I am pretty convinced that the best route to go is hiding your guns from thieves, rather than putting them in a supposedly secure box that advertises their presence.

Of course, once you get to a certain qty of firearms, like OP, hiding them is just not practical.

So do you think you know who stole them? Assuming so because you think they’re going to turn up in Vegas is very specific.
