ran into snap with AR assembly

I was putting my AR together and had a hell of a time with the roll pin on the trigger guard. it seems to have splayed out some and I dont know if I can get it in the rest of the way. any suggestions?

Support the receiver ear so you don't break it off.
    Get a new pin.
Get a roll pin holder that won't spread the pin out.
Finish the installation with a flat punch.

The MOE comes with a roll pin.

I always make sure my roll pins are wet.

I've NEVER had an issue with them.

I once made the horrible mistake of what Randall's picture depicted above.............but NEVER AGAIN. I absolutely guarantee perfect & easy installation with the support method spoken of above + I coat (HEAVILY) every roll pin with TW-25B + (my "special little secret") I put my roll pins in a pin vise and polish them down about .003-.004" on the leading end with a Dremel with polishing compound. Oh, and the starter punches are a MUST if you expect to do this job more than once and expect good, easy, clean results. The only thing I don't agree with is the use of drift (flat) punches on roll pins. In my experience, that will almost always 'mushroom' the roll pins. Stick w/ roll pin punches to drive them home.

You could always finish pushing the pin into the receiver/pistol grip with a vise (allowing you to slowly tighten without violent/sharp pressure).

The pin doesn't go thru the PG.

PS - I love your sig line, but my preference would be 300gr. of .338 Lapua Magnum going 2980 fps.!!!!

I don't know why nobody else does this... press the pins in with a vise. Use a light touch, and the trigger guard tabs are fully supported, and with a small vise (like a drill press vise) you can't provide enough pressure to mushroom it. If it starts crooked, it's an easy job to straighten and start over. Plus you don't have to worry about the punch acting as a divining rod for the most delicate part next to the one you are trying to strike. ;-)

Bench block and a 1/8" punch.
