I'm planning out my next build -- I'm thinking about getting a 20" Medcon CMMG upper on order. Purpose would be a bench rifle.

Anybody have one? How do you like it? How's it shoot for you How's the Medcon balance vs. a 20" HBAR?

I never owned one, but I have shot one on a couple ocassions. In my opinion, the MedCon and HBAR barrels are too heavy for practical uses. I built my first AR using a 20" Government profile barrel, and it was still a pretty heavy rifle. As far as balance goes, I prefer my rifles with the weight towards the buttstock so I like the feel of the MedCon over the HBAR.

If all you do with your AR is shoot from a bench and use a rest, there's no problem with a MedCon or HBAR assembly. The added thickness will improve your groupings.

Thanks for the input. I do know what you mean -- one of my other OLLs is a 16" A2 Bushmaster HBAR. With a standard CAR stock it does feel quite muzzle-heavy -- I'm going to replace it with a standard A2 stock eventually.
