Thinking about building an AR - FN SCAR 16 replica

Well, seems I've caught the BRD, but I don't want it in all black. I like the earth tones of the SCAR and would like to reproduce the look of it.

    Has anyone done this?

    I have FDE rifles.

Finding a stormtrooper leg to hack off and use as a stock will be tough, though.

The UBR might be closest, but impossible to find.

The upper is also different than anything else.

In the end, you're really just building a tan AR.

I guess my second choice by looks would be a Sig 556.

I know i'm gonna get some "flame" for this, but if you want a "SCAR" type rifle wait for the Bushmaster ACR. It could be a long wait though. That being said, I really, really, really hope they actually release it. I've been putting off new AR builds/purchases waiting for the this beauty.

I like it... Is it awaiting development or just a CA thing?

                  It's waiting for god-knows-what

Who knows how long it will be.

I would have picked up an XCR from Robinson Armament had I not found an outstanding deal on a SIG 556. I have heard nothing but great things about the XCR from Addax. But, I love my SIG also.

The Bushmaster ACR is awaiting to have a civvy semi auto version made, from there its finding out which kinds are feasable for CA.

Uh I think Bush is marketing to LE and mil. Thats 100% of there focus right now. We wont see a civvy model for a loooooooooooooooooong time. Its really not that hard for a major company to make a semi FCG....... certainly not 3 years to develope!

If I like the Sig and the XCR should I just buy them, or build a rifle that suits my needs for cheaper?

If you want a SCAR, get a SCAR, otherwise you'll just be blowing money on something that just isn't

Personally I think the SIG556 is a great rifle value.

If you really want some thing no one else will ever have, get a HK SL8, have a G36 conversion done to it and painted FDE.

I think most people would faint on sight.
                            Seriously missing the 80's.....

Not a huge fan of the G36. I used to like the 91, but now it looks very 80's to me. I do like the Sig...
