    Any input on MP5 flats?

I'm considering building an MP5 and found flat receivers ready to be bent and welded for under $100. Has anyone had any experience with these?

yes, there are semi-auto versions of the MP5 and MP5K legally in CA.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Lot of good info on this subject over at the HK pro forums in the clone section.
These guys have done pretty exhaustive comparisons on the different flats.
Personally I like the MKE flats as they are the closest thing to an original HK flat available having been made on HK licensed tooling in Turkey.... very pricey though, IF you can even find one.

Yeah, HKPro is where to go... I still have kits and flats, but never got around to it.

It's my understanding that the bending of the HK flat is the most complicated and difficult diy build of all the sheetmetal type receivers - much more difficult than the AK.

HKpro would be the best source of info.

I'd be up for one, but I keep hearing that anything other than a true HK is just not worth it. Looks like fun, and I REALLY want an MP5. I wouldn't even mind a semi-auto, mag-locked version, honest, I wouldn't.
