Colt uppers

I heard that some Colt uppers dont fit many lowers. Woudl like some information on this subject.

Front pivot pin stanrdard size (Mil-Spec.) is .250 while some Colts use a "large pin" .315.

Some Colt lowers also use a "large Pin trigger/hammer" .174 vs. Mil-Spec of .154.

Stevie is correct. Most current issue Colt uppers are "small pin" and will fit any lower. Just be sure when buying one that it is a "small hole" upper.

Current meaning last few years. I had a Colt Sporter in the mid-90's and it was large hole.

Forgot to mention: you can buy an adapter and fit a large hole upper to a small hole lower.

Any Colt upper will fit any lower. You will need the adapter if you get a large hole upper.

My 1972 Colt M16A1 Complete barreled upper fit my CMMG lower like they have always been combined .

The mid to late 60's Colt A1 upper I just put on my calguns.net lower has the big pivot pin hole. I had to find the offset shim to get it to fit tight. Only the front pivot pin had the big hole, the hammer pin was standard. Next weekend I get to test fire my rifle.
