HELP....Question about buffer retainer and spring.....

So I was trying to zero in my accupoint at the range and within 6 shots, the rifle stopped working.

I took apart the upper and the lower and the buffer retainer and buffer retainer spring shot out along with the buffer spring and buffer....

does anyone know why? and where would I get these spare parts?

Also I wanted to just disassemble the lower so I took off my magpul UBR and I noticed the Takedown Pin Detent / Pivot Pin Detent is missing and the detent spring was smashed.

Did I install the UBR wrong? I didn't have a receiver end plate but I dont know if the UBR requires one...

My guess is that you smashed the spring between the UBR and the receiver. Since the smashed spring was in the way, the UBR receiver extension probably did not make full contact with receiver, thus leaving a gap. The gap was probably big enough to let the buffer spring and tube fly away.

Let's assume your receiver is fine... in that case you didn't screw in the stock enough to retain the detent/sping for the buffer. Either that or the receiver extension is too short.

If it's not that, then either your buffer retainer is misdrilled, your extension attachment is too thick.

          Buffer tube blues

Sometimes a biffer tube can be present at a certain length that does not allow it to cover the side of the retaining pin sufficiently.

Always loosen the screw in the butt of the stock so that the Buffer tube
can be screwed all the way in...so that it's covering the side of the pin
and won't allow it to pop out. Once you know the buffer tube is in as far as
it can go...tighten the screw in the stock.

Midway has all the little parts for cheap. As well as PKfirearms. I've ordered lots of springs from them. Why don't you do the rear takedown detent mod. It'll keep you from having to worry about the springs and its a whopping 7 bucks or you can buy the parts yourself. I just went on ebay and bought 60 plugs with the right threading for 3.00 and called it a day. I reamed all of my friends and took care of all of theirs for free.
