    Saiga Muzzle device question...

Is it Legal in our wonderful state to add this Item to my featureless Saiga??

Is this a Flash hider or a Muzzle comp???

This item is NOT permenently attached...it works with a slip on clip.

As for whether it's a flash hider or muzzle brake, that's a good question since the vendor's *own* description calls it by both terms! In general, a muzzle brake has a small exit aperature, about the diameter of the bullet itself. A flash hider has a large aperature, i.e. you could stick your pinky in it. I can't tell by the picture which it is...but a flash hider is a feature in CA, meaning you would need a mag-lock to keep it legal. A muzzle brake is not a feature, no problem there.

Aside from CA laws, I don't know for sure, but I suspect that this may cause you to run afoul of 922(R) since it could take the rifle out of "sporting configuration."

Again, I'm not positive...but most things you might want to do to a Saiga, will cause you to run into 922(R).

FINAL edit: I know this wasn't really your question, but many will advise you to stay clear of any kind of clamp-on muzzle device. They have a nasty tendency to become projectiles.

When I expand the photo in the link it looks like a flash suppressor.

        It's a Flash Hider.

I have it on my neutered Saiga. It does a pretty nice job on the flash.

Edit: If you add that FH to your Saiga rifle, it's still a sporter, but your rifle is no longer featureless.
