    limbsaver advice

    I have a new Remington 700 Police in .308
I want a limbsaver for it.

    1) how do I attach the thing to the HS precision stock on the 700P?

    2) Which limbsaver do I need for the 700police?
I copied this data off their website.
    Remington 700 ADL/BDL 4 15/16" flat stock Wood 10111
    Remington 700 ADL/BDL 4 7/8" flat stock Wood 10112
    Remingtonl 700 ADL/BDL 5" & over (flat stock) Wood 10543-G

    3) I bought the model 10111 from the gun show today thinking it was the only one. Did I get the right one? Do I need to swap it for another tomorrow?

    Thanks!

I just called my local shop and they said I would need a "grind to fit" limbsaver and it would cost $75 to have it put on. Does this sound right?

You know they have a slip-on for your rifle? Wont have to grind and you can switch. I have one for my garand, works great.

you can print out the pdf's from limbsaver and see if there is a direct fit, Ive gotten lucky on all 3 of my shotguns on finding an almost perfect fit.
and it was listed for something completely different each time.

Even your synthetic stock has the recoil pad screwed on (if you push a screwdriver into the rubber you can find the "holes") and replacement pads are NOT epoxied on.
Get on the phone with another gunsmith. Limsavers are great for very big kickers but I find Pachmayr decelerators last longer.

And yes, most recoil pads are made wider than your butt-stock so they can be ground to fit.

thanks for the input. I ended up swapping it with the gun show vendor for a medium slip on cover. We'll see how that works. no gunsmithing involved.
