I have two Aimpoint 2X Comp C3's on two AR's currently w/American Defense mounts & I really like them. I am looking to outfit another two AR's with CQB optics but I'm looking at other options with higher magnification. I'm considereing a Trijicon AGOG 4x optic like the TA01 or the TA01NSN. Anyone run them than can give me feedback? Good/bad points? Are they worth $900? Thanks.

There is no way I would buy an ACOG without BAC, especially if it's for CQB.
In those forms, yes, they are worth the money.

What's the intended use?
4x seems like a lot of magnification for what I think of as CQB. If you want magnification but the flexibility to run 1x for true CQB how about an Aimpoint with a 3x mag behind it on a flip-to-side mount?Comment

I have a TA31F...I love it.
Most folks will argue that at REAL CQB its too high magnification. I don't mind it and it really isn't a big deal. Its easy to hold the chevron a bit high and use the 300-400 yard mark as a 25yard zero quickly even while on the move.California Uber Alles, California Uber Alles

Aimpoint or EOTech for CQB. Infinite eye relief makes target acquisition alot easier when a proper cheek weld cannot be had/maintained.Ty | 815.246.AR15 (2715) | info@midwestpx.com

When I kick doors, it helps to have both eyes open for room clearing. Under stress, your eye will quickly pick up the 65 MOA ring on the EOTECH.
+ 1 on the EOTECH or AIMPOINT 4 MOA if you're a door kicker."Do you like RAP music?" - Axel Foley

It's strictly for range time until SHTF. My eyesight is not the greatest. I do notice that with my Aimpoint's 2X power, my accuracy is much better than with a 1X power sight. The new Burris AR 322 3X red dot sounds ideal, but who knows when they'll be available & they have no real reviews to judge quality. My other alternative is a Comp ML2 2X which is on sale right now @ Midway for $385. That's a killer deal for a 2X Aimpoint.Liberals could fk up an anvilComment

For sure...I would in a SHTF scenario be happy with my ACOG. I can manage in CQB but I'm no door kicker. I have taken the ACOG to carbine courses and done fine with it. It would have best to have a eotech or aimoint but I made due. An ACOG is actually able to be used as a heads up...you can have both eyes open. It's strictly for range time until SHTF. I am actually taking a class with my buddy tomorrow...it's a beginner class and he wanted company. I was too lazy today to go site in my T1 so I just left the ACOG on and will be using it for that class tomorrow. Its not ideal but again you can make due.
Again, SHTF...I ain't kicking in doors or even defending my home. I have no need for a CQB optic...the ACOG works best for me.California Uber Alles, California Uber Alles

i have the ACOG TA31DOC and have taken a 4 day rifle course with it and i love it. we practiced from point blank to 400 yards and it was fine. also the reticle has the BDC for M855 out to 600 meters.Comment

Personally I like the Eotech reticle. I did some drills in Nevada in the desert and I can easily hit multiple targets in a 180 degree arc, just point and shoot.
Seems real easy to pick up the 65MOA circle.Comment

"CQB" and "magnification" are exclusive. iron sights seem like plenty for anything considered "CQB" - add-on sights can actually obscure your view! if you do have reduced eyesight then something like a 1x EOTech or Aimpoint might be in order: they're just a window with a dot, and would be very easy to acquire in low light.

Target acquisition with an unmagnified red-dot such as an Aimpoint or EOTech is much, much faster than irons."CQB" and "magnification" are exclusive. iron sights seem like plenty for anything considered "CQB" - add-on sights can actually obscure your view! if you do have reduced eyesight then something like a 1x EOTech or Aimpoint might be in order: they're just a window with a dot, and would be very easy to acquire in low light.
