Bullet Buttong for RRA Lar-8 308

Hello Gents, I had a quick question for anyone, I recently purcahsed a RRA 308 LAR-8 A4 , Now heres my problem. As I live in California the rifle has to have a locked mag, when I purchased this firearm i was assured by coldwarshooters (very nice people) that the prince 50 bullet button would work and that they would install but when they got the firearm they told me that no bullet button currently would work on this rifle and that they could custom build one for $150....? so Here's my question, Is there really not bullet button on the market for this rifle that will fit on this and make it CA legal because 150 for a custom button seems pretty dam high but I could be wrong.

Many Thanks bud, Just contacted Golden State Tactical and It seems that they have exclusive rights from prince for a particular bullet button. Great guy to deal and can't wait to get it on my rifle, thanks again !!!

That is correct LAR-8 Ambi Bullet button is now developed

      Hi All,

Anyone with an LAR-8 knows about the problem with getting it legal in the state. The lower is one of a kind and very uinique in that it has ambi mag releases and Ambi bolt releases. It uses an FAL magazine also.

So with a very patient customer in the wings, Darin at Prince 50 and I set out to get him his rifle and try to use both side of the lower to release the mag. I took tons of pictures (soon to follow) and Darin began the design.

We now have the parts perfected and they soon will be mass produced. We'll sell the new design for 50 bucks per unit.

It requires tapping out a roll pin and then removal and replacement of the inner stud that connects both mag releases together. It actually is a pretty sweet design. Darin is a genius at thinking the problem through and then coming up with the solution. Glad I could be his pair of hands.

So who wants an LAR- Bullet button?

                Lar-8 Bullet Button

Thanks! After a few trial and errors, we finally settled on a design that works. Darin Prince was truly a great help in designing just the right button. The 2 minute commercial on the BB was that the lower is ambidextrious in all regards, Bolt release and Mag release. We needed to try and find a way to make a BB that could incorporate the unique features of the rifle lower. Since the LAR-8 uses FAL/Inch magazines, the design of the lower is unique in every regard.

The original thought was to have an ambidextrious BB for the lower. After a few tries, it became apparent that the lower could only handle a one sided BB. The right side of the BB has an old 1st Generation Prince 50 with a set screw. The post that connects both sides is highly modified to allow the set screw to work on the right side while at the same time enabling a 2nd generation Prince 50 BB to work on the left and drop the mag. The only way to drop the mag is by using the left side BB just as in a typical set up on an AR-15. The trick is in getting the right amount of turns on the set screw and the BB inner nut to allow the mag to work properly.

Because I had 4 people waiting for the final designs to be completed, I was unable to get time to take pictures of the final product being installed. As I get more Lar-8's in. I will add pictures here. Lets just say that the guys that have these now (5 that I know of in the state) are in a truly exclusive club for the time being.

Feel free to PM me or call me for more info on the BB for the Lar-8. Price is $45.00 plus tax

Two B16 works with very slight modification to one unit while maintaining the original parts.

I tried to install this on my lar-8 today, needless to say I ended up installing the standard button again. Does any one have pictures of the process? It doesn't seem to have room for the set screw to be installed.
