The action is contrary to the intent of the law.

So... (wait for it)... it's a loophole!

That's exactly what a loophole is: within the letter of the law, but contrary to the intent of the law. Here's the definition according to Merriam-Webster. Pretty simple.

We found a loophole, and we are exploiting it for all that it is worth. I've got seven AR's and I'm thrilled that six of those were purchased due to a loophole in a crappy law.

I suspect that those who don't want AR/AK buying to be a loophole are using some other meaning of the word loophole. I'd honestly like to understand what that meaning is.

It's not us doing the loopholing, it's the government doing the loopholing around us, like constrictors the squeeze !!!!!
IT'S NOT A LOOPHOLE ITS MY RIGHT!!!!
Read a book, educate your self about what happens when you try to ban violence or regulate what size caliber one can have. Californians should be able to have anykind of gun they please, protectionism will never work.

I have a loophole 3x10 mark IIII on my AR.... or is that Lee-u-pold. Well whatever, I think that just about sums it up in one sentence.

How can it be a loophole?. The law as it is written today clearly spells out that an AW is a semi-auto centerfire rifle with a fixed number of evil features. Any less, and it is not an AW.

Is slowing down to 65 MPH as you approach the scales (where CHP has been known to hang out) taking advantage of a loophole? Lookit: 66MPH= Speeding. 65MPH= Not Peeding!

Um, sorry if I missed the point, but what matter is it what you refer to it as?

Call it what you want: "loophole"; "not a loophole"; "following the letter of the law"; "taking full advantage of all resources available to you"; or, "big fluffy bunny buns". What is the difference?

I legally have my black guns and it pisses off the anti-gun types. What could be better than that?

because it allows us more gloatage over the stupidity and ineptitude of the laws authors. and double gloatage over doj's feeble defense tactics and childish refusal to accept/admit defeat. if mel brooks wrote a movie about making gun laws it'd play much like our awb. and if john waters wrote a movie about enforcement...

There should of never been a Ban in the first place. If your not a Felon you should be able to own what you want.
There's NO loophole the law is the Law.
Our Founding Fathers would of NEVER voted a Gun Ban.

                    Not a loophole.

We're following the letter and the spirit of the law.

BB OLL's are gimped, unfortunately; they're not even close to being an AW in function, and I can only assume that was the purpose of the law.

Just because something is "illegal" doesn't mean it is "unlawful" or that because someone makes a law it is a just law.

Kings of old and tyrants/dictators today have the power to make any law they want. Does that automatically make those laws moral or just?

Is one required to abide by an illegal or unjust law?
I don't think OP wants the loophole to be closed. He's got AR's himself. He's trying to point out what he thinks is the real truth that fellow Calgunners choose to deny because if we all admit to it then that will give the antis more fire to play with. Isn't that right? I think so. That's all there is to it.
