7.62x39 Ammo Sources Post Russia and Ukraine

Now that Russian ammo is banned and Ukraine is too busy using their ammo to export it, what sources are left over for bulk 7.62x39?

The Chinese stuff is also a no go.

Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, The former Yugo states, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Armenia. There’s a lot of former eastern bloc countries out there.

I'm seeing lot of PRVI Partizan from Serbia on the shelves.

      I'm good with 7.62x39 and 5.45. Glad I never got into 9x39.

Aguila has stepped up it's volume since the Barry O days.

Maybe they'll step into the gap. They are closer (Mexico) and competitively priced in other calibers.

My crystal ball is broken and out of warranty, so no better WAG can be assessed.

I stacked when ammoman.com and SGammo.com were flooding the market with 20cpr Golden Tiger.

Cheapest ammo had some CHEAP Steel Case 7.62x39 come in from Kyrgyzstan from an actual old Soviet Ammo Plant. it was marketed as Non-corrosive but when the guys on the AKFILES got ahold of it they found the ammo to actually be Corrosive. cheapest ammo had to go out and apologize for the misrepresentation. They may still have it for sale on their site.

PSA started up their ammo company and brought over tooling and expertise from former com bloc (Russia or somewhere) to set up production here in the US. Supposed to be up and running in '23-24. Hopefully that will stabilize the x39 ammo supply. Have not bought much over the past several years as I prioritized 556 before the mail order ammo ban.

I got 1k rounds from firearms depot a month or 2 ago doe like $360. Think it was tula steel. They ran out of that and had the arsenal ammo for the same price. Just checked their site and don't see any cases left, just boxes.

I wish I bought a LOT more when sgammo shipped to California, and I don't even shoot my 7.62 that much

Even the Russians are going to 556 round, 762 will eventually fade away.

The Soviets adopted the 5.45x39mm AK-74 round over four decades ago... The Russians will be using it for the foreseeable future. They are using the 5.45 round in their latest issue rifle the AK-12.

                            That's very old news..
