AK triggers: Red Star Arms vs ALG AKT-EL

    Red Star Arms:

Shop rifle parts (2,683) at Brownells, including barrels, stocks, triggers, and bolt carriers to customize, repair, or upgrade your rifle’s performance.

    ALG Defense:

I'm looking to upgrade the trigger on a Zastava ZPAP M70. I'd like something both lighter and smoother than the factory trigger, with a cleaner break. Interested in opinions regarding the above triggers. Which do you prefer and why? Also, Any other brands I should look at? Thx.

I have a spare Arsenal FCG in a baggie if your interested. I thought it to be pretty good except it didnt have enough feedback on the break and reset.

I have the ALG, reset is great, a little too light for my liking. I kept it though. I thinks its like 3 pounds.

I like a 4.5 to 6 pound trigger on my rifles.

I have the ALG in an M70. Smooth pull, no grittiness, crisp clean break. Strong reset. All noticable advantages over the stock trigger (which was not all that bad). Pull weight measured 3.75lbs with my gauge.

I just polish up the standard triggers. You can get fantastic results just a few minutes of work.

Just polish the mating surfaces of the hammer and trigger.

                Agreed.

I went the expensive route and kept ammo flowing thru the rifles and everything just smoothed out over time. Good ju ju goes a long way.

To the folks with Sam7? Is the ALG trigger drop in or some fiddling is required?

For those who opted for the ALG, the tail of the disconnector tail may hit the triggerguard rivet inside the receiver. Make some clearance with a file and the chance of the disconnector cracking is lessened.

You have to look around. These are a few of the cheapest at the moment:

When PSA has them ("AKV enhanced" but works on AKM and AK74s) they go for about $74
