For a 308AR,
the spring is 11 1/8" in the relaxed position,
the carbine (typical) buffer weight is 3.78 ounces
with a length of almost 2 1/2"
For a 556AR,
the spring is 9 3/4" in the relaxed position,
the carbine (typical) buffer weight is 3 ounces
with a length of 3 1/4"
Both are for carbine buffer tube, which is the most common on both types and also what I happen to have laying around. Obviously there are heavier buffer weights, but the weights I have are what came with the rifles and they work fine.---------------------
