Yes, you need a 9mm buffer. Stern Defense sells some.

Not sure if that upper needs it but on my Colt upper I had a weird shaped hammer for it.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I think that mag adapter costs more that just buying a dedicated 9mm lower. Why not just do that?

OP probably has a 5.56 magwell lower lying around. Getting a hold of a 9mm dedicated lower can be tricky in CA. Is this going to be a pistol length build or a carbine?

Aero website says this bolt works with mil-spec FCGs. So no weird hammers need apply.
The CMMG bolt I used in my own 9mm AR build is ramped, so it can also use standard hammers.

I used a Hahn adapter for my build. Definitely cost more than a dedicated 9mm lower. But I wanted the flexibility of being able to use an existing standard lower, and it cost much less than also buying a new lower, LPK, stock/tube, good trigger and grip.

This. Lower sitting here without a purpose in life.

Lower is registered rifle. Would love to find a 14.5"ish upper so I can p/w it. 16 seems overkill for 9mm

You can get 5 inch barrels that have a permanently attached extension to bring it up to 16 inches.

Even more reason to buy a dedicated 9mm lower since all new LPK, buffer kit, stock will also need to be purchased. You will still get a few more ft/s out of a 16" vs 14.5" depending on ammo, and it will definitely be quieter.

Plenty of 9mm lower on the market and some are complete lowers. Mag conversions are for those that has registered AW or in USA tax stamp SBRs.

A stripper 5.56 lower can always turn into some other caliber rifle, 300BO, 6.8SPC, 6.5 Grendel, 458 SOCOM, 450 Bush, 510 DTC, etc, etc.....

                      I want an AR44.

It's been talked about here, that the rimmed 44mag would be difficult to work with. But the Desert Eagle uses an AR style rotating bolt; seems doable.

Would be cool to have a Desert Eagle/AR combination, like having lever action/revolver combo...

Need a dedicated AR that takes Glock 20/21 magazines - this is the way! Actually a little disappointed no one has done a .44 automag in an AR, seems like that would be a natural.

You do not need the Stern bolt, just one cut for Glock.
