TWS gen 3 Dog AND gas tube rail?

    Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with combining a TWS gen 3 Dog leg dust cover rail AND any gas block rail together? Do they line up on the same plane?

I'm considering possibly removing my factory front sight block and replacing it with a front flip-up BUIS on the railed gas tube. But only if the railed gas block and TWS line up with the rear TWS peep sight or a rear BUIS.

    Thanks!

Are you thinking of an Ultimak rail? No, it won't line up.

Now, if there is enough vertical adjustment in the front and rear sights, there may be a possibility that they may lineup. But putting AR height back up sights without the corresponding riser on your AK stock may make a good cheek weld difficult.

Thanks very much for the pic, beanz2. That's EXTREMELY helpful.

I'm thinking of removing the front sight block and wanted to avoid getting a gas block front sight combo. I thought maybe a railed gas tube and a folding front BUIS. But what you have in the way of front sight looks excellent. Might I ask which gas block/front sight that is?

It’s Rifle Dynamics’s FSB, made by Venom Tactical.

This will line up with TWS’s rear sight.

          Outstanding. Thanks much.

You know if the bottom screws would still allow the use of the MAGPUL Zhukov handguard?

The TROY IND RAILED GAS BLOCK looks like it may sit on the same focal plane as the TWS.

I've never used it, so I can't comment. I just read that it does not mount directly on the barrel.

Have you looked at using TWS's own handguard?

SLR Rifleworks also has handguard with a railed gas tube that seems to be work with the TWS Dog Leg:

but it is a complete handguard system.

I think both handguard systems seem really excellent and versatile. However, my reason for avoiding them is to avoid going down a road where the rifle looks more tactical.

I must say though that the above pictured rifle is truly magnificent.

Yes, it’s hard to draw the line between the classic look and tacticool. The only answer is to have one from each end of the spectrum and sprinkle the rest in between.
