I finally brought home the Aero lowers that I bought in May. This is my first experience with Aero products, very nice for $100.

I've had all the stuff to build this one for some time, just waiting for the lowers to come home.



You'd think that the butt stock and forend would be the same color since they came from the same place. I'll have to keep my eyes open for another A2 stock that's black instead of gray.

Different materials, different colors and textures. Colt made butt stocks, are different colors than Colt made hand guards. Different textures too.

I didn't know that about Colt. My buddy has two newer Colts. I never noticed it on those, but then I wasn't looking for it.

Rub gun oil on the stock. Let it soak, then clean with rubbing alcohol.

I did that to mine and it works to darken it up a shade or two (not the alcohol part, I just rubbed some gun oil into the stock and then wiped off any excess with a clean soft cotton rag. It darkened up a bit).

I think the color discrepancy is pretty normal. Here's a pic of my 1st AR, before oiling. Buttstock is noticeably more grey than the handguard, just like the OPs.

I just dug out my AR308. It's got a A2 stock that's black. I keep my eyes open for a black one. Maybe somebody has one to trade.

Only on places like calguns and arfcom do people worry about their AR's being color coordinated.

Get a UTG stock, they're black cheap plastic like the handguards. Sell the gray stock, the grey stocks are better quality and are more milspec correct.

I just assembled it today and it's too darn hot to go to the Mojave. I'm gonna try to get up to Route 66 soon. I've got a few guns that I haven't shot yet.

Your sure right about that. This gray stock is better built then the black one on my AR308.
