Staking the AR castle nut. Is this the spot?

    Hey guys,
I am assembling my MARS-L lower. I usually stake the castle nut on the buffer tube threads, but today I noticed on my castle nut that there is a notch as if LMT wants me to stake it there. Is this the right location?

That's where my staked lowers are staked.

You can also get a PWS lock plate that has a ratcheting sort of locknut that doesn't need staking.

After torquing the castle nut down, I found another notch lower on the side I could have used and not have it sitting visibly in-yo-face. But, oh well, it's done!

I like a good steak as much as the next guy, but 1 is enough.

If you need to pop it off again you get to use the second one without buying a new part. Dimple fresh metal.

While you CAN do 2, I've never found it necessary. Your call on that detail.
