AKM Wire Stock - info please

So I finally found my long-lost wire folder while looking for a brace (it's funny I never find the very part I'm looking for, but I always find a whole bunch of others that have been missing LOL) but I had the bag labelled "Polish Tantal wire folder . . . (AKFiles seller's name) 2/2017".

Now, I've been looking for an East German wire folder in good shape for my next project, but the stock I got from Apex was such in a rough shape that I returned it.

My question is what is the country of origin of this stock? Can anyone shed some light if this is East German but I mislabeled it? Crossing my fingers.

Polish Tantal. The two small holes in the mount are the tell.. Also no cross pin through the sheet metal mount.

    Sorry.

Recently there was a thread asking which country a certain side folding AK stock came from. I put this thread together to make identifying the country of origin of these stock easier. Here are some photos of each type of the Romanian, East German and Polish side folding AK stocks. There are...

      Bummer.

Thanks. I guess my last hope is the hand-picked EG stock from Apex. Coming next week.

All sorts of features on that make it look just like my Tantal stock.

Thanks, Randall. Those pics SVT-40 linked from AKForum convinces me it is a Polish Tantal stock. Such a shame since the metal and finish on this one is still relatively intact and looks 100% restorable while the EG surplus stock from Apex was kind of rough and pitted.

I wonder if the wire stock itself can be swapped such that I can use the original East German hardware, hinge, release button, etc., while keeping the nice stock finish from the Tantal stock.

So I did a deep dive in all my East German AK parts. It appears that the locking block on the wire portion of a Tantal stock "should" fit inside the East German "base"..

Now, I didn't drive the staked pins out of my EG or Polish stocks, but I measured, and it "should" fit. You may need to do some adjusting on the latch, but it appears that it should be minimal.

The Tantal wire stock is 1/2" shorter than the EG...

Thanks, SVT-40 . I'll see how the replacement East German stock from Apex looks like when it arrives this Wednesday.

Yes, this is what I got, the lower one in the picture. Is this the small sling loop kind?

Now the hold up is the Childers receiver. It has been 8 weeks. I meant to call them this week, but work gets in the way

Hope I won't lose my build spot with PoHF.
