Scope suggestions

Need scopes for 2 new rifles, a savage 17hmr and a mossberg 100 atr in 30-06. Keep in mind that I'm under a tight budget. I don't want to spend more than $100 for the savage and around $200 for the mossberg.

Bushnell makes some nice scopes for the price you are looking for. for your 17 check out their 22 line, for your moss check out their 3200's.

Actually with the rifles you mention, you should spend more money on the .17HMR scope and less on the 30-06 scope.

The .17 is capable of great accuracy. Get a good scope. The 30-06 is a hunting gun and only needs 3 moa out to a couple hundred yards, so a less expensive scope would be preferrable to getting a cheaper scope for the .17.

At least in my opinon. Take the $300 and split it, and get two $150-ish scopes for each. You will be better served.

I hear Nikons are quite good, and a better value for the dollar than Leupolds. I believe Nikon scopes range from $100-400

Nikon glass is just amazing but their price can be very high. The best glass i have seen was on a pair of Nikon binoculars.

I agree the .17 needs a Bushnell elite to get the most of her. There was a guy at the Chabot range who had his stick rigged with a very nice Conquest scope.

lol... Personally, the .17 HMR deserves a really nice piece of glass. Any half decent 3-9x40 would be fine for the .30-06.

I'd recommend:

30-06: Bushnell 3-9x40 Trophy. Great scope. I love the Trophy series. It'll set you back $89.
.17 HMR: Get the Leupold VX-1 3-12x40. It's about $249.

That would be a little more than your $300 budget for both rifles, but you'll get the best out of both of them with this setup.
