    Scope height

What is the proper or prime scope height for a AR 15 flat top? Center of scope to center of bore = ?

I personally try to get a scope height that will be equivalent to the iron sight height so that I get a good cheek weld on the stock. Scope eye relief is also important, and most scopes require a mout that will cantilever the scope forward to acheive that. Scopes with very large objective lens may have to be mounted higher.

There are a number of good AR type scope mounts that will do both. Check out: AR15 One Piece Mounts
