    PSL muzzle device options

What are you guys doing with these? From what I understand they can be counted as flash mitigating devices. Since they are held by a pin, I was thinking of using a spare muzzle device and taking it to my local gun machinist. What are you guys doing with them?

They're muzzle brakes. However, if you don't like them, you'd have to thread the barrel. I suggest you do the usual AK 14:1LH, there are many options for it. I put JCOMP Gen 2 from Strike Industries on one of my PSLs, it works well.

Weld the head of the pin. Not rocket science.

I should have been more specific. I do not want to permanently alter the rifle, so threading the barrel goes out of the window. That's why I have a second muzzle device. That way I can remove it, modify it, then install it on my current rifle.

I believe you misunderstood what I am trying to accomplish here. Since I've heard mixed thoughts, whether this is a true muzzle brake, or if it was also designed to mitigate flash, I don't want to keep using the factory PSL muzzle device. I also don't want to thread the barrel or permanently modify the gun in any way.

            It's 100% a muzzle brake.

Having owned a PSL at one time the MB is worthless. The rifle is no more a shoulder kicker than most 308/762x51 semi autos. Leave it off or leave it alone.

These has always been some question as to brake or flash hider... the military has flash hiders on rifles...
articles call it both... flash hider / brake

it's ca and a legal grey area....

Some PSL were imported with a threaded barrel.

Is your PSL a shooter or a to be sold later option?

If sold later- pack with grease and store in a safe

if a shooter, decide what you want to do with it and make it happen.,,,

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)
