    Daniel Defense 9.5 FSP LITE

    Anyone running this rail?

Find the full line of firearms, parts and accessories from Daniel Defense, including AR-15’s, AR-Pistols and Bolt Action Rifles for sport shooting and hunting.

Thinking about the 9.5 FSP LITE or the 7.0 LITE with a VLTOR gas block front sight.

    Pics if available....

The advantage of the FSP is it gives you more length to grab, so you can get your hand out in front. 7" rails are really short.

I like the 12 FSP, too.

I only have a 12 FSP-M, so I'm no help for your specifics, as you have a carbine.

The DD M4 with rail has the 12 FSP.

I have both the 9.5FSP Lite and the 7.0 Lite. I also have the Vltor GB/FS and the ARMS #41B-L as well as the PRI GB/FS and GG&G GB/FS (personally, I think the ARMS unit is the best of the bunch.) Between the two rails, I would say go with what you need. I wanted to move my light forward more (to minimize the barrel shadow) without adding too much weight and the 9.5 FSP fit the bill for me. The 7.0 did serve me fine when I wasn't running a light. If you like to grab your rifle like Chris Costa, you might want to get the 12.0 FSP. I grab high up but not so far forward.

The carbine below is my new primary carbine. Here's the breakdown:
      Upper: KAC SR-15 M4
BCG: Colt M16 BCG w/O-ring, Colt "Gold" spring, CS Ejector Spring & Black Buffer
      Barrel: Colt 14.5" M4 w/perm. attached KAC NT4 (crush washer + shims)
Rail: Daniel Defense Lite Rail 9.5 FSP
      Charging Handle: PRI Gas Buster
Gas Block / Front Sight: ARMS #41B-L
      Rear Sight: KAC 600M
Optics: Schmidt & Bender Short Dot w/locking turrets
      Mount: LaRue SPR-E
      VFG: Tango Down Shorty
Light: Surefire Scout M600C w/Surefire SR switch
Misc: KAC Panels, Daniel Defense Ladder Panels, KNS Anti-Rotation Pins Gen 2 Mod 2, Magpul MIAD, Troy M4 QD Swivel Attachment End Plate, Vltor E-MOD, H2 Buffer, Chrome Silicon Buffer Spring, LMT 6-Position Receiver Extension, Daniel Defense Rail Attached QD Sling Mount.

Now this is my older primary which is now my backup and it's going to be tertiary backup as I have already built a FDE copy of my current primary. This photo was taken when it was relatively new but it now has about 8500ish reliable rounds on it without a single cleaning and it's even had some WOLF run through it...and it's not even a piston! This one has a Daniel Defense Lite Rail 7.0 and a GG&G GB/FS (clamp version)

Thanks for the help and pics...I see we have similar taste Recce...

        What I have is a LMT 14.5 / VLTOR VST 1C/ AAC 51T.

I am going to be using a surefire M900 on this rig. Many vendors do not have the 7.0 LITE in stock right now.

I would say skip the M900. I have a few (bought them before the Scouts came out) and they're just unnecessarily large and heavy. Go with a Scout light. The new M600C (as opposed the "A" model) has a very good throw (tighter beam) but still works well in CQB situations (good spill). The "A" model has a better spill but it's not so good for distance so if you plan on just CQB type use, the "A" model might fit the bill better. The batteries also last longer and the LED is pretty much unbreakable. I've gone through one too many bulbs with the M900s which is why I retired them.

The Vltor VST-1 won't fit inside the FSP's as the bottom block is too wide. Plus a VERY annoying "feature" of the Vltor is that the front sight does not lock in the up position. This is a issue when you need your BUIS to work right after an optics failure. I HIGHLY recommend the ARMS #41B-L instead. It's a superior sight in every way and I'm not an ARMS fan (I don't use their mounts unless I have to...like in the case of the Elcan SpecterDR)

              1811, skip the M900. It's a beastly thing. I hated it.

Look into the VTAC pseudo-scout light. Cheap and just as good.

He's running a S&B Short-Dot scope on LaRue mount in the top.

The bottom is a Trijicon TA31DOC ACOG with LaRue mount.

              About $4k in optics/mounts.
