    New 6.5 creed upper

I bought a PWS 6.5 creed rifle a few years ago and everything about it has been great except it's front heavy. I tried to see if I could swap out the barrel with a Proof CF barrel, but since it's a proprietary design, PWS said only thing they can do is shorten the barrel.

Long story short, I decided to build a 20" CF barreled upper. 20" Proof Research barrel, Aero upper/handguard/bcg, Odin adjustable gas block, rifle + 2 tube, go/no go gauges, and APA brake. I've built several lowers, but leave uppers to professionals so I had Randall put it together for me.

Took it out last week for break in and sight in. Shot 120gr amax, 140gr American Gunner, 140gr ELD, and 147gr ELD.

Groups averaged from 0.74-1.065 MOA. Next time, I'll take my chronograph and keep track of ammo & groups.

Went out last week for a second round. When I arrived at ASR, I was the only person there, probably because it was around 40 degrees and windy on new year's day.

I was hoping it would like AG 140gr since that's my plinking ammo and it seems to be okay.

A few 5 shot groups with different ammo. Pic is 10 shot group with AG 140gr. Went out to 600 yards and then back to 100 yards (3 shot group).

    My PWS w/20" barrel: AG 140gr was 2,610 fps & 147gr ELD 2,644 fps. PR CF: 2,579 fps & 2,589 fps.

I might look into cutting the PWS to 18". Might be worth losing 40-50 fps for some weight savings and better maneuverability.

IMO leave it alone. Minus 2" will loose more accuracy than weight. Bad trade.

Front heavy? I see a bi-pod on it. QD/move it towards the mag well.
Not all "problems" can be solved with surgery.

See what accuracy you get at 800yds before you decide to bris the tip.

Doesn't the PWS have a gas piston? Those are always heavier on the end than a DI. Also, if you cut the end off, that might affect the dwell time of the gas, and maybe mess up your accuracy.

At current ammo prices, I won’t shoot it without a bipod or at least off a bag. So weight won’t matter.
